Keywords:
COIL, teacher education, internationalization, intercultural competencies, collaborative learningAbstract
This article analyzes a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) experience implemented between Universidad Católica de Temuco (Chile) and UNIMINUTO (Colombia), aimed at strengthening intercultural and pedagogical competencies in pre-service teacher education students. Using a qualitative and descriptive approach, open-ended surveys were applied before and after the course. The results reveal a positive transformation: students moved from initial uncertainty to the development of meaningful learning, highlighting collaborative work, intercultural communication, and personal growth. Challenges related to time management were also identified. This study provides evidence of COIL as an inclusive internationalization strategy and its contribution to the professional development of future teachers.
