Abstract




This paper presents a study in relation to physical education, sports and sports institutions. More specifically, we will address the teaching of sports with emphasis on childhood and adolescence. We have looked into the discourses and practices of two central actors (coaches and physical education teachers) as well as into the ideas and concepts that coexist in their practice, and the modes of relationship between them.


The purpose of this work is to find out the meanings and sense that these actors give to teaching, the reasons for their actions and the “sport knowledge” they put into practice. It also inquires into the relationships that exist in the macro institutional level, the autonomy or dependence on them, and the impact they have on the logic of teaching in the sports institutions.
