Abstract

In today's world, it is imperative that higher education institutions develop internationalization strategies to respond to global challenges. Within this context, the internationalization of university extension is an essential tool to achieve this purpose.

This exploratory and qualitative study aims to understand the progress of the strategic process of institutional internationalization in the Extension and Outreach area of the University of Chile during its years of implementation, from 2015 to 2022. Its purpose is to understand how it has contributed to the development of the international dimension of university extension and what are the challenges and opportunities of its internationalization. The qualitative methodology used in this research is based on content analysis from information obtained from official institutional documents and interviews (anonymous) with qualified expert informants, both from the internationalization and extension areas.
