Abstract

This article addresses the impacts of the pandemic fundamentally on women in popular neighborhoods of San Martin de los Andes in Neuquén Province, and deals with community and individual experiences as part of different alternatives to the sustainability of life in a marked scenario of inequality. From a qualitative approach, interviews were carried out in the virtual and face-to-face modality from the beginning of the pandemic to December 2021. The impacts of covid-19 and the forms of resistance at that time are manifested from narratives of how they experienced, transited and (re)constructed daily strategies from community and individual experiences. It focused on people who are located in many ways "on the margins" of the possibilities of having alternatives for the resilience necessary to resist in a context of prolonged adversity. An interviewee said "We could not be afraid, because if we were afraid and did not leave the house, we did not eat", which expresses the existing material conditions in impoverished social sectors that catalyzed experiences in the transit of the pandemic. This statement shows that the inequalities that already existed in this territory with a fundamentally tourist vocation became visible and multiplied with the arrival of the pandemic, based on a combination of the unresolved material conditions of existence and the emergence of new problems.
