Abstract

The PRT-ERP exercised violence in politics with the aim of taking the power and establishing a radically equal society. To achieve this purpose, this group focused their attacks on an “external
enemy”: the middle-class and the Armed Forces. Nonetheless, we believe that these two factions were not the only targets because they also based their attacks on an “internal enemy”: the petite-
bourgeoisie and individualism values in particular. Therefore, this organization might have exercised internal violence towards its own military, with the aim of standardizing their behaviors, according
to a set of guidelines that were taken as values to be followed and that were said to lead to the construction of a new man. This paper is meant to analyze the internal aspect of violence exercised by the PRT-ERP during 1970-1976 in Argentina.
