Abstract

The theme of our article refers to the problem of domination in the last book of Axel Honneth Freedom`s Right. To address this problem satisfactorily, we consider first necessary to review the main statements of the book and their general theoretical approach (1). In the book of
Honneth the issue of domination is strongly associated with two notions: the "social pathologies of reason" and the "anomie". For this reason we focus on these issues and carry forward a methodologically-systematic conceptual reconstruction (2). Our thesis is that in Freedom`s Right is lacking a "robust" conception of domination that the author promises in his other books, but finally does not develop. We understand that this is an important conceptual gap, especially if you consider that this is a reflection about freedom that attempts to enroll in the legacy of Critical Theory of the Frankfurt School (3)
