Abstract

This abstract is a first attempt to draw the attention on some difficulties revealed by the students attending the subjects Methodology and Techniques on Historical Research, Historical Teaching and Teaching Practice. These three subjects are included in the curricula of the 4th and 5th year of the History course of studies at our University. The analysis is focused on the different ways of knowing and the type of engagement the students express with that knowledge. We have realized that some tasks proposed to the students that will become History teachers in a near future by ourselves, already History professors are troublesome at some point of the courses we teach. This is why, we would like to reflect on these kinds of assignments and propose a change if it is possible. We have been able to observe the cognitive process carried out by our students through what they do or are unable to do and of what they can door they cannot do. Therefore, these facts make up the hard core of a way of knowing and a manner of getting engaged with knowledge that takes place while attending the History course of studies at the University.
