Análisis climatico de eventos con viento intenso en Neuquén

La provincia del Neuquén en Argentina, ubicada en latitudes medias, se ca-racteriza por la constancia y la duración del viento, con una dirección predominante del sector oeste . La zona está ubicada entre la región sur del cinturón Subtropical de altas presiones, cuya influencia directa se extiende hasta aproximadamente 40°S y las bajas presiones subpolares en el círculo antártico. Como estos sistemas de presión presentan sólo pequeñas variaciones estacionales y espaciales y muestran poca variación en su intensidad, los vientos del oeste prevalecen durante el año en la Patagonia.
Esta característica proporciona el mejor criterio para la delimitación de la Patagonia como una región climática uniforme. La distribución anual de las direcciones de viento de estaciones individuales muestran que las frecuencias de aquellos del oeste están entre el 50 - 70% (incluyendo calmas).
