Abstract

This paper represents a general approach to the study of a contemporary socialist cooperative experience, which originates in the innovations born during the 2001-2002 crisis, that falls within
the field of the so called new left, and that, in its own way, seeks to foreshadow an egalitarian society through devices and practices which –without neglecting neither efficiency nor quality-
correspond –as we shall see– to socialist distributive principles. Thus, first of all, we will try to briefly outline the situation of socialism and the new left where the Cooperativa de Trabajo y
Consumo Cae Babylon Limitada belongs. Secondly, we shall describe the cooperative: its history, goals, structure, and so on. And, thirdly, we will endeavor to identify the socialist distributive principles (Marxian, to be precise) that underlie the practice of this cooperative in Neuquén.
