Turismo Político y visibilidad de los movimientos sociales: una aproximación al Movimiento de Trabajadores Excluidos (MTE) en Argentina

Abstract

El presente artículo se propone realizar un abor
daje al concepto de Turismo Político desde el
Movimiento de Trabajadores Excluidos (MTE) en
Argentina, para indagar cómo este tipo de turis
mo puede contribuir a la visibilidad de los movi
mientos sociales, a través de la generación de ex
periencias turísticas transformadoras. El Turismo
Político es una tipología definida como tal en los
primeros años del siglo XXI, más allá de que en
la práctica pueden identificarse diferentes ejem
plos, desde la Guerra Civil Española hasta la lucha
del pueblo palestino. Tales acontecimientos, han
producido la llegada de visitantes de todas partes
del mundo, atraídos por diversas situaciones histórico-políticas que merecen su atención. Desde entonces, ha sido una herramienta utilizada por movimientos y organizaciones sociales para pro
mover su visibilidad, transformándose en atrac
tivos turísticos destinados a un tipo particular de
turistas.
Uno de los movimientos sociales existentes en
Argentina es el Movimiento de Trabajadores Ex
cluidos (MTE), quien nuclea a personas que fue
ron descartadas del mercado laboral formal. Se
inventaron su propio trabajo para subsistir y en
contraron en la organización colectiva una forma
de dignificar su trabajo y condiciones de vida.
El Movimiento acabó convirtiéndose en un ele
mento motivador de visitas, pero de forma
no-planificada. El presente artículo, en el marco
del inicio de un trabajo de tesis, se caracteriza
como una investigación exploratoria del tema
donde se pretende comprender en qué medida el
desarrollo de una experiencia de Turismo Político
en Argentina contribuye a la visibilidad del MTE,
mediante la creación de experiencias turísticas
transformadoras. Se identifican los principales
elementos que lo posicionan como atractivo y se
considera que este tipo de experiencia de ayu
dará al fortalecimiento de la identidad del movi
miento, valorización del territorio de actuación
y de su historia de lucha, así como también a au
mentar la visibilidad de la organización.

Abstract

This article proposes to carry out an approach
to the concept of Political Tourism from the
Movement of Excluded Workers (MTE) in
Argentina, to ask how this type of tourism can
contribute to the visibility of social movements,
through the generation of transformative tourist
experiences. Political Tourism is a typology
defined as such in the first years of the XXI
century, but in practice different examples can
be identified, from the Spanish Civil War to the
struggle of the Palestinian pueblo. Such events
have produced an influx of visitors from all
over the world, attracted by diverse historical
political situations that deserve your attention.
Since then, it has been a tool used by social movements and organizations to promote their 

visibility, transforming into tourist attractions
aimed at a particular type of tourist. One of
the existing social movements in Argentina
is the Movimiento de Trabajadores Excluidos
(MTE), which is the nucleus of people who were
discarded from the formal labor market. They
invented their own work to subsist and found in
the collective organization a way to dignify their
work and living conditions. The Movement ended
up becoming a motivating element for visits, but
in an unplanned way. This article, within the
framework of the beginning of a thesis work, is
characterized as an exploratory investigation of
the theme where it is intended to understand to
what extent the development of an experience
of Political Tourism in Argentina contributes to
the visibility of the MTE, through the creation
of transformative tourist experiences. The
main elements that position it as attractive
are identified and this type of experience is
considered to help strengthen the movement's
identity, enhance its performance territory and
its wrestling history; as well as increasing the
visibility of the organization
