Resumen

El estudio del proceso de adquisición del lenguaje ha ocupado un lugar central en el marco teórico de la Gramática Generativa puesto que se intenta responder al ya clásico problema lógico de la adquisición del lenguaje, esto es, cómo se adquiere de manera rápida y únicamente a partir de evidencia positiva, un conocimiento lingüístico tan complejo como es una lengua materna. Desde una perspectiva formal, se propone que la adquisición del lenguaje está biológicamente determinada y que el conocimiento gramatical es el resultado de un sistema específicamente lingüístico. Se analiza, entonces, el papel que juega esta facultad innata en el proceso de adquisición de la competencia lingüística y en qué medida las estructuras que genera un niño a lo largo del proceso de adquisición obedecen a los principios de la Gramática Universal. En este artículo, por una parte, nos centramos en los factores relevantes que intervienen en el proceso de adquisición de una lengua materna, en las etapas por las que pasa la gramática del niño y en las hipótesis clásicas que se han planteado para dar cuenta de la representación de las categorías funcionales en la gramática infantil temprana. Por otra parte, se exponen los resultados de algunas propuestas novedosas sobre la adquisición de la morfosintaxis del español, en contextos con menor y mayor variación lingüística en el input que reciben los niños, para evaluar la incidencia de esta posible variación en el desarrollo de su lengua.
