La cuenca neuquina es una extensa comarca petrolera que se extiende sobre el territorio de cuatro provincias argentinas. A la provincia del Neuquén le corresponden especificamente unos noventa yacimientos de gas y petróleo, con el 65% de su superficie -61,000 kilometros cuadrados- afectada por algunos de los distintos tipos de tareas vinculadas a la explotación de hidrocarburos.
