La lógica del Facundo de Sarmiento

Abstract

We start from the statement that the logical narrative structure that
articulates the speech on Sarmiento ́s Facundo is the one demonstrated by Hegel in his Science of Logic, meaning by this the dialectic. In first place we will define the concept of “logical narrative structure that articulates the speech”; then we will show how the three moments of Hegelian thought (the understanding antinomy presentation moment, the dialectical reason moment, and the speculative reason moment) can be traced on Facundo. Afterwards, we will explore posible ways in wich Sarmiento could have aproched to this logical narrative structure, considerating three possibilities: that Sarmiento had taken contact with this logical narrative structure through reading the works of Hegel, or by reading an author who had used the logical narrative structure of hegelian dialectic, or that this form of speech articulation is the product  of the zeitgeist of Sarmiento ́s time. Finally, we will present a series of conclusions that emerge from the consideration of the three possibilities mentioned above.
