Teoría social del riesgo y cartografía aplicada a la ciudad de Neuquén

El rápido crecimiento de la ciudad de Neuquén, principalmente a fines del siglo XX, ha provocado un avance urbano hacia diversas zonas de peligro natural. En la actualidad los habitantes de estas áreas presentan diferentes características socioeconómicas que los posicionan de formas también diferenciadas ante las diversas amenazas. La teoría social del riesgo mediante sus 4 dimensiones básicas permite realizar un análisis integral de estas situaciones para poder determinar diferentes niveles de riesgo social. El presente trabajo analiza 3 de estas dimensiones, la peligrosidad (como primer dimensión a analizar se refiere a los aspectos físicos de una determinada amenaza), la vulnerabilidad (que contempla las condiciones socioeconómicas de la población involucrada) y la exposición (remite a la distribución de la población y los bienes implicados). Mediante el proceso cartográfico, que funciona como guía en la elaboración de mapas, se ha podido realizar cartografía de las diferentes variables a analizar para, posteriormente, confeccionar el mapa final donde se ven reflejadas las áreas de mayor riesgo social. De este modo la cartografía como herramienta posibilita arribar a resultados y plasmarlos espacialmente.
