Efectos provocados por la pandemia del COVID 19 en las empresas turísticas locales de las Islas Galápagos (Ecuador) /

Resumen

La aparición de Covid-19 ha traído consigo una serie de consecuencias tanto para la salud, como para la economía de los países. Las Islas Galápagos no son la excepción, gran parte de su dinámica e interacciones económicas, políticas, sociales y ambientales están relacionadas con la actividad turística. El presente estudio pretende generar un acercamiento a la realidad turística inmediata provocada por la presencia de la pandemia, tomando como base las apreciaciones de los empresarios turísticos (oferta). Se emplea para ello un cuestionario para recoger los resultados de una encuesta instrumentada vía online a través de Google Forms con el objetivo principal de captar impresiones de los empresarios y gestores turísticos de las Islas San Cristóbal y Floreana. Se recolectaron 62 encuestas, que representan el 28% de los establecimientos catastrados en el Ministerio de Turismo (MinTur). La información cuantitativa fue procesada en el programa estadístico SPSS versión 23 y la cualitativa a través del ATLAS TI versión 8. Existe una gran preocupación en el sector turístico privado debido a la poca capacidad de reacción por parte de las autoridades locales y gubernamentales, lo que podría desencadenar en un alto desempleo y la utilización de estrategias poco efectivas por parte de los prestadores de servicios.

Ángel Guillermo Félix Mendoza, Escuela Superior Politécnica Agropecuaria de Manabí Manuel Félix López.

Doctor en ciencias por la Universidad de Córdoba-España, en el programa de Recursos Naturales y Gestión Sostenible. Magister en planificación y gestión de proyectos agroturísticos y ecológicos. Ingeniero en administración de empresas turísticas. Diplomado Superior en Docencia Universitaria. Es docente investigador de la carrera de turismo de la ESPAM MFL, acreditado por el SENESCYT. Experiencia como docente universitario (pregrado y posgrado) y capacitador del MINTUR por más de 11 años.
